An awesome AI for business research and academia
Howdy
It’s been a while.
I missed you!
Happy New Year by the way 🤨
I will explain the absence next week, but for now, I want to show you an AI tool that make you smarter than a rocket scientist 🚀
Move over, Armstrong, no more small steps…
If you like today’s tool and want to try out it, I got discount codes (not affiliate links):

Like a spider to Peter Parker
Just like a spider’s bite launched Peter Parker into the skies, your business can soar to new heights with the power of AI.
Today I am diving into how SciSpace gives businesses, universities and students super senses and agility like Spiderman.
If you are a long-time reader of this newsletter, you know that I love ChatGPT. I use it every day.
But do you know what ChatGTP sucks at?
Facts and citations.
ChatGPT will deliver output as facts with the confidence of a supreme leader.
My newsletter about AI and cancer, Cancer Innovations, is written from a layman’s perspective, without knowledge about any of that cancer research mumbo jumbo.
I wouldn’t know a Hermeneutic Circle from an Epistemology (I had ChatGPT help me with that sentence 🙂).
One of my “secret tools” to understand the cancer research stuff is SciSpace.
SciSpace is an AI tool that makes understanding research papers fast and easy. I can dive into one of their 282 millions research papers or upload a new research paper that just came out and the AI ask about it (currently SciSpace have research papers from October 2023 and older). If I am not sure what to ask (remember, not a scientist), the AI will also suggest questions to ask.
Look mom, I science…
When I find something I could cover in the newsletter, I will download the research paper as a PDF, upload it in SciSpace, and have a conversation with the CoPilot (AI) about the content of that research paper, or ask question about stuff I don’t understand.
Don’t mistake their CoPilot with Microsoft’s CoPilot. Both AI assistants are called CoPilot, but they are not the same.
I actually asked SciSpace what LLM/AI is running their CoPilot.
Surprise, surprise…
It is GPT-4 👍
Anyways, this is my use case for SciSpace.
There are obviously many more.
Their target audience is researchers, publishers (of scientific papers) and universities.
And while I understand this is a big field and a great niche with lots of $$, I personally think this tool have equally many use cases outside of the academia.
Let me give you some ideas how to use this AI for business and work.
Practical use cases
SciSpace says their tool makes analysing research easier and you can 1) Analyse and contrast multiple papers on one screen 2) Ask the AI Copilot for summaries, explanations, or questions to read papers faster.
I want to add a third “business focused” point: 3) An AI that can analyse and discuss research papers for business development.
Here are 27 more ways you could use SciSpace:
Market Research: Businesses can use it to analyse market trends and academic findings related to consumer behavior, helping in strategic planning.
Product Development: Companies in tech, pharmaceuticals, etc., can access the latest research for developing cutting-edge products.
Medical Advancements: Healthcare professionals and researchers can stay updated with the latest medical studies and findings, much like I do for my cancer & AI newsletter.
Legal Precedents and Case Research: Legal professionals could use it to find legal research (yes, it is not only medical research, it is any kind of research in that database!)
Competitive Analysis: Companies can use it to stay ahead by understanding the research their competitors are producing or using.
Customer Insights: Businesses can analyse research related to consumer psychology and demographics for targeted marketing.
Technology Advancement: Tech companies can stay on the cutting edge by understanding the latest in computer science, engineering, and more.
Journalism: Journalists can use it to understand and accurately report on complex scientific studies and statistics. From my point of view, journalists need this more than any one of us… 😀
Investment Strategies: Financial analysts could leverage academic research on economic models, market analysis, and more to inform investment strategies.
Real Estate Development: Analysis of urban studies and architecture research can inform better urban planning and building designs.
Supply Chain Optimisation: Businesses can stay abreast of the latest research in logistics and supply chain management for efficiency.
Cultural Studies: Organisations can understand social, cultural, and historical research to inform decisions or content creation.
Public Health Strategy: Health organisations can use it to develop strategies based on the latest public health research.
Non-Profit Sector: NGOs can use it to understand the impacts of their work and find evidence-based strategies for social issues.
Environmental Policy and Research: Access to the latest environmental studies can inform policies and corporate practices related to sustainability
Innovation in Agriculture: Farmers and agricultural companies can access and understand research on crop science, sustainability, and more.
Policy Making: Governments can understand and utilize academic research in crafting policies related to healthcare, education, environment, etc.
Crisis Management: Organisations and governments can use it to understand and strategise based on research related to crises management, from pandemics to natural disasters.
And while I am at it, lets touch upon academia as well…
Academic Research: Beyond just accessing papers, students and researchers can delve deeper into topics, understand complex material, and find connections between works.
Enhanced Research: Researchers can quickly find relevant studies, review literature, and identify gaps in their field, speeding up the research process.
Educational Curriculum Development: Educators can use it to integrate the latest research findings into their curriculum.
Interdisciplinary Connections: Academics can discover and explore connections between their work and other disciplines, encouraging interdisciplinary research.
Student Learning: Students can use the tool to better understand complex academic papers, helping them with coursework, thesis work, and general learning.
Thesis Supervision: Supervisors can guide students more effectively by quickly accessing and reviewing relevant literature and suggesting comprehensive reading lists.
Grant Writing and Research Proposals: Researchers can use the tool to strengthen their proposals by easily finding and citing relevant work and identifying where their research can fill knowledge gaps.
Collaboration Opportunities: By identifying who is working on similar topics, academics can find potential collaborators across the globe.
Alumni Engagement: Universities can use the tool to inform alumni about ongoing research related to their interests, encouraging ongoing engagement and support.
